The AAMBS 9th National Convention was held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour from 27-30 September. A fantastic convention all around with Alliance being awarded the silver medal in the Open Quartet Contest.
Coaching with Cindy Hansen and Eddie Martinez
A big weekend for Alliance as Dan was in Perth and the quartet participated in a coaching retreat with Vocal Evolution in the lead up to the AAMBS National Convention with long-time coach Eddie Martinez and Presentation guru Cindy Hansen, both from the USA.We were very fortunate to be able to spend some time with them over the weekend and get some excellent quartet coaching.
Alliance win gold at 2007 AAMBS Western Region quartet contest
Held at the Churchlands Senior High School Auditorium, Alliance were chuffed to win the Open Quartet Contest for the third time in a row. This was new baritone Richard’s first major performance with Alliance and his very first quartet contest with any quartet but he didn’t miss a beat, handling it like a seasoned pro.
Introducing our new baritone Richard Reeve
Following a lengthy worldwide search, which ended up a tree in the grounds of the University of WA, we are happy to announce that Richard Reeve has accepted our invitation to fill the baritone position for Alliance.
Richard is originally a Queensland boy and came to Perth via Sydney in 2005. He has been singing with Vocal Evolution since arriving in Perth and even as a relative newcomer to four-part harmony has proven to be a real asset to the chorus. Richard is no stranger to music or the stage, however, having been around amateur theatre since childhood. In his spare time he is completing a master’s degree in natural resource economics and works for the Western Australian government. Richard is the only member of the quartet who is still single so if there is a “Jane” out there looking for a “Tarzan”, we have your man!

Alliance were honoured to be invited to sing on the bill with International Quartet Champs Realtime on their Perth and Sydney shows recently. A great bunch of guys who sing phenomenally well together. A great time was had by all.
